Shipping & Safe Transport Policy (2026)

At our ferreteria, the health, safety, and well-being of our baby ferrets are our absolute top priorities. Ferrets are fragile, highly sensitive mammals that require climate-controlled environments and low-stress handling. Because of this, we do not use standard postal services or cargo couriers to ship our animals.

Below are the safe, approved methods we use to help your new companion make the journey to their forever home.

Where We Can Ship (Legal Restrictions)

Before planning your transport, please ensure that ferret ownership is legal in your state, county, and city.

Local Scheduled Pickup (Highly Recommended)

To minimize stress on your new pet, we always recommend picking up your ferret in person.

  • How it works: Once your adoption application is approved and your ferret is ready, we will schedule a pickup window at our facility.

  • What to bring: You must bring a secure, hard-sided travel carrier equipped with soft, familiar bedding (like fleece blankets) and a heavy ceramic water dish or secure water bottle.

  • Cost: Free.

Option 2: USDA-Certified Ground Transport & Air Travel

If you do not live within driving distance, we coordinate with trusted, professional IPATA-certified (International Pet and Animal Transportation Association) shippers who specialize in handling exotic animals.

A. Professional Ground Transport

Your ferret will travel in a climate-controlled, USDA-licensed pet transport vehicle.

  • Care on the road: Transporters provide regular welfare checks, fresh food, and clean water. Ferrets travel in spacious, secure travel enclosures with clean hammocks/bedding.

  • Delivery: This is a door-to-door service. You must be present at home to receive the ferret at the scheduled delivery time.

B. Approved Air Transport (Pet-Safe Flight)

Because major commercial airlines restrict live ferrets from passenger cabins, air travel is handled strictly through certified pet-transport specialists using climate-controlled, pressurized live-animal compartments.

  • Weather Embargoes: We will not fly ferrets if ground temperatures at the departure, connection, or arrival airports are too hot (above 80°F / 26°C) or too cold (below 45°F / 7°C). Your ferret’s safety takes priority over delivery speed.

Pre-Transport Requirements & Vet Check

Before any ferret leaves our facility via ground or air transport, they must undergo a final health check.

  1. Health Certificate: Our USDA-accredited veterinarian will perform a physical exam and issue an official Certificate of Veterinary Inspection (CVI) dated within 10 days of travel.

  2. Vaccine Buffer: To protect their developing immune systems, baby ferrets must wait at least 48 hours after receiving their scheduled vaccinations before they can travel.

Rates & Booking Fees

  • Local Pickup: $0

  • Certified Ground Shipping: Varies by distance (typically $100 – $250).

  • Pet-Safe Air Cargo: Varies by airline routing, crate requirements, and location (typically $400 – $700).

  • Note: All shipping costs are calculated individually and must be paid directly to the licensed shipping provider.

Our Safe Adoption Policy (No-Scam Guarantee)

The pet industry is sadly targeted by online shipping scams. To protect our buyers and our animals, we operate with 100% transparency:

  • We never demand untraceable wire transfers (like Western Union).

  • We do not ship “automatically” upon a click. Every single buyer must pass our brief Adoption Screening Process before a transport can be scheduled.

  • We provide you with the direct license number, tracking details, and contact info of the exact USDA-registered pet transporter handling your ferret.
